ILGA's vision is to create a world where the human rights of all are respected and everyone can live in equality and freedom, enriched by the diversity of sexual orientations, gender identities and gender expressions. Their mission is to be a leading global voice for the rights of those facing discrimination based on sexual orientation, gender identity, and sex, to work towards achieving equality, freedom and justice for LGBTQI+ people, to empower members and other human rights organizations, and to promote the diversity and strengths of LGBTQI+ people worldwide. ILGA was established in 1978 and has consultative status at the UN Ecosoc Council.
